A Hilo restaurant has closed temporarily after an employee was found to be COVID-positive Thursday.
Leung’s Chop Suey House on East Lanikaula Street announced today via social media that it will close until further notice after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the social media post, the staff member, whose last day at work was Aug. 15, was not in close contact with any customers, and is currently quarantined as per guidelines from the Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
All other employees who came in close contact with the staff member have been advised to self-quarantine.
While closed, the restaurant managers will conduct a deep sanitization of the restaurant, and all staff members will be tested for COVID-19 before the restaurant reopens.
“Rest assured that when we reopen, we will continue to screen our staff daily, maintain frequent sanitation procedures, and add any extra steps that will help keep you and our team safe,” the post read.
